Apprehension Made In BHS Shooting Threat

Glynn County Schools Police Chief Rod Ellis has confirmed that the student who AirDropped a message threatening to stage a shooting at Brunswick High has been apprehended and was NOT armed. The 16 year old student has been charged with Terroristic Threats and Disruption Of A Public school. 

Ellis credited the Glynn County Police Department for handling the investigation while the GCSPD watched the students.  Ellis also tipped his hat to the Brunswick Police Department, Georgia State Patrol, the FBI and the Glynn County Sheriff's Office for their assistance.

Earlier today BHS principal Scott Spence sent the following email regarding the incident: 

"This is Scott Spence, principal of Brunswick High School.  Just before noon today an anonymous message was sent from within our building using “Air Drop” via a cell phone.  The anonymous message stated that there would be a school shooting during 4th block.  At this time our resource officers are reviewing video and other surveillance information to find the culprit.  In addition, we have brought in more school resource officers and additional law enforcement agencies to increase supervision here at Brunswick High School.  Please know that we will do everything within our power to catch the culprit and the consequences for this act will be severe and swift. "
