On Thursday (02/21/20) it was announced that Superior Court Judge Stephen Scarlett has denied a motion for a new trial for convicted murderer Guy Heinze Jr, the inmate has 30 days to appeal Scarlett's order with the Georgia Supreme Court. Heinze was indicted in 2009 on eight counts of murder in a high profile case in Glynn County, Georgia and was found guilty of all eight charges in 2013. The murders gained international attention, and have been refered to as the worst mass murder case in Georgia state history. According to the Georgia Department Of Corrections Website, Heonze is fulfilling his life sentence at the Hays State Prison Facility in Trion, Georgia.
