See John Fogerty, Billy Joel Perform Two CCR Hits At Madison Square Garden

Eleven songs into Billy Joel's 62nd consecutive monthly performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the Piano Man invited a Southern rock icon onto the stage.

A Les Paul-equipped John Fogerty proceeded to lead Joel's band through vigorous renditions of two of Fogerty's biggest Creedence Clearwater Revival-era hits, "Up And Around The Bend" and "Fortunate Son."

After an introduction by Joel, Fogerty humbly takes the stage, seeming at first to shield his eyes from the spotlights. After getting his bearings and giving Joel a hug, the band launched into the opening riff of "Up And Around The Bend" and Fogerty took up the front man role, dashing across the stage, working every angle and hitting the high notes of the near-50-year-old songs despite being almost out of breath.

The collaboration lasted all of 6-minutes before Fogerty said goodnight and left Joel to finish out his set.

Joel makes a point to work guests into his monthly residency at the World's Most Famous arena. He's previously collaborated with Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Miley Cyrus, Steve Miller, Tony Bennett and many others.

Fogerty has one more NYC-area tour date, in Connecticut, later this week before resuming is Las Vegas residency at the Encore Theater at the Wynn in mid-April.

Fogerty is among several original Woodstock performers who is scheduled to play the 50th anniversary Woodstock festival this summer.
