Humane Society offers $5,000 reward for info on dog abandoned in Brunswick

The Humane Society is requesting information on anyone who may be responsible for abandoning a dog on Pecan Point Dr in Brunswick. They are offering a $5,000 reward in exchange for information that will help identify the party responsible.

On October 11, Glynn County Animal Control responded to a request for assistance from the Glynn County Police Department to rescue a severely emaciated dog found abandoned. The small dog named Rusty was found abandoned inside a port-a-potty on a construction site.

Rusty is now on the road to recovery and is receiving care from a rescue group.

“This dog was starving, caged and left to die in horrific conditions. The person who did this showed cruel indifference to the suffering of an animal. It is heartbreaking to imagine what this dog endured,” said Debra Berger, Georgia state director for the Humane Society of the United States. “Thank goodness a Good Samaritan alerted authorities in time and he is receiving veterinary care. We hope our reward helps find the person or persons who committed this despicable act.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Glynn County Animal Shelter at912-554-7501, the Glynn County Police Department’s Silent Witness hotline at912-264-1333or emailanimalservices@glynncounty-ga.gov.
