Inmate Injured in Jail Attack

This following notice was issued Saturday by the Glynn County Sheriff's Office:

"On Friday November 5th,2021 at approximately 2:20pm Glynn County Detention Personnel were alerted by an inmate that another inmate in his housing unit was harming a cellmate. The officers responded and observed one inmate causing injury to his cellmate. The officers immediately intervened and contacted jail medical personnel and EMS. Medical aid was administered to the injured inmate who had what appeared to be severe injuries to the back of his skull.

The injured inmate was transported to Southeast Georgia Health System for emergency treatment and care. The incident is under investigation at this time."

Unnamed sources have identified the victim as 52-year-old Luke Hutto. Hutto had an extensive arrest history, and had been booked Thursday on charges of Criminal Trespass and Misdemeanor Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers. His booking photo shows him with contusions around his left eye and a bloody nose. At last update, Hutto was in critical condition in Jacksonville.
