Two Plead Guilty in 2021 Killing

From Glynn County Police:

Glynn County GA—Chief of Police Battiste of the Glynn County Police Department (GCPD) announces the recent plea agreements of Bria-Marie Nicole Register (29, B/F, Brunswick GA) and Michael Howard (43, B/M, Brunswick GA) for the April 17, 2021 homicide of 17-year-old Javier Eduardo Cordova.

Mr. Cordova was killed after an altercation at Coastal Crest Suites, 3108 Cypress Mill Road. His body was found along the roadway a short distance away from where he was killed. After the shooting, the defendants attempted to destroy the handgun used as well as the doorbell cameras, in an attempt to cover up their crime.

Chief Battiste would like to acknowledge the efforts of the GCPD Investigators who worked alongside the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to solve this homicide. He would also like to thank

the District Attorney’s Office and the prosecuting attorneys of the Brunswick Judicial Circuit for their efforts as well. Chief Battiste stated “This senseless, senseless death occurred because two adults didn’t choose to settle a dispute civilly. They chose to settle an alleged dispute with a 17-year-old teenager by using a firearm. The investigation by GCPD and GBI provided extensive evidence which facilitated the pleas entered last week. “

Ms. Register pled guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter and was sentenced to 20 years with 13 years to serve in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections followed by 7 years’ probation.

Mr. Howard pled guilty to Tampering with evidence and was sentenced to five years’ probation with six months to serve.
