Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Nokie Edwards has passed away. Best known for his work as guitarist for legendary surf band The Ventures, Edwards also played with country artists Lefty Frizzell and Buck Owens during his lengthy career. His collaboration with Art Greenhaw & The Light Crust Doughboys earned two nominations for the Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album of the Year at the 2005 & 2006 Grammy Awards.
Edwards designed the Nokie Edwards Custom signature model Telecaster for Fender, his own custom guitar, the HitchHiker, and the Nokie Edwards Dual Blade Humbucker Pickup, manufactured by Seymour Duncan.
Outside the music spectrum, he played the mysterious friend of Wild Bill Hickok on the Deadwood television series.
He was 82.
