ADAM ANT The Florida Theatre, Jacksonville PHOTOS

Adam Ant at the Florida Theatre, February 2nd.

Nearly six months after the original show date, anticipation was high for Adam Ant's return to Florida for the final make up dates of his 'Anthems-The Singles Tour".  Most of Ant's Florida dates had been postponed from last September following Hurricane Irma's destructive path across the state.

Glam Skanks, a hard rocking all-female quartet opened with some fierce-sexy riffage that comes highly recommended by Mr. Ant himself.

His set featuring two drummers and Ant on occasional guitar was just that, anthems and singles.  Clad in a black leather military-style jacket that harkened back to his glam/punk/fashion origins, Adam shared insights into the inspiration for several songs including "Car Trouble", where mimed his father gripping the wheel as the family was overtaken on the road by highwaymen of the iron horse nature on some English bank holiday weekend during his youth.

Chatty and jovial, he (and his band) looks and sounds great. His crowd was a show unto itself as well. Where else are you going to see a podiatrist (I assumed) with Apache war paint sporting a beret and millennials in billowy shirts heartily asking "If I strip for you will you strip for me?" in communion?
