An arrest was made this morning by the McIntosh County Sheriff's office in McIntosh County. 35 year old Dennis Calvin Avera of Sapelo All Insurance was taken into custody at his home on three counts of insurance fraud. The arrest was made after Sheriff Steve Jessup notified the Insurance Commissioner with information leading to the investigation. The investigation revealed that Avera was allegedly converting to his own personal use money given to him for automobile coverage from insurance clients.
The Deputy Insurance Commissioner is urging anyone having insurance with Sapelo All Insurance to speak to a Georgia Insurance Commission agent as it is believed there may be more as they believe there may be more fraud victims.
The Georgia Insurance Commission agents will be at the training facility located next to the Sheriff's Department on GA-251 in McIntosh until 3 p.m. tomorrow (04/05/17) for those wishing to speak to an agent or are asked to call 1-800-656-2298.
