On Wednesday The Georgia Department of Public Health announced the state’s first confirmed death from a vaping-linked illness. The death is one of nine confirmed cases in Georgia where patients were hospitalized and developed pneumonia with no known infectious cause. The patient had no history of vaping THC, which has been linked to a majority of the mysterious vaping-related illnesses.The state health department has teamed with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after people across the country started experiencing severe lung illness after vaping.
Gov. Brian Kemp and DPH Commissioner Kathleen E. Toomey continue to urge individuals to follow the Center For Disease Control recommendation that individuals should not use e-cigarettes or other vaping devices while this investigation is ongoing.
