SINERR PRESENTS “Crab and Shrimp Day” Thursday, June 1stSapelo Island, GA: The Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve (SINERR) and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources are offering an exciting opportunity to visit Sapelo Island on June 1st and learn about Georgia’s crab and shrimp. Visitors will learn about the life histories of our local cab and shrimp, as well as the local industry. Participants will be given the opportunity to pull seine nets on the beach to discover our local crab and shrimp species. The program will end with a good ‘ole fashion crab and shrimp boil. Participants are encouraged to bring a side dish to share. Tickets for these events may be purchased at the Sapelo Island Visitors Center for $15 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $10 for children (ages 6-12). Reservations are required and can be made by calling the visitor center at 912-437-3224. For more information call the Education office at 912-485-2300. Participants will depart the mainland on board one of our ferries at 8:30 a.m. and return on the 2:30 p.m. ferry leaving the island.
