I had the privilege of speaking with one of my rock 'n roll heroes about his performances in Georgia this weekend to benefit homeless military veterans.
MC5 guitarist and co-founder Wayne Kramer performs an early show at 529 in Atlanta on Friday (8/4), and Athens-based non-profit Artist2Artist brings "CBGB Athens" to the stage of the Office Lounge Saturday night (8/5). Both shows will feature Television guitarist Richard Lloyd, a legend in his own right, on the bill.
Kramer will be backed by Georgia musicians including Adam Renshaw of The Forty-Fives on drums, Adam McIntyre of The Pinx on guitar and Magnapop's Shannon Mulvaney on bass.
Power popper Peter Holsapple of The dB's, a reunion of the Dashboard Saviors with Dana Downs, Michael Guthrie, and my Facebook buddy Cortez Garza complete a line-up that almost has to feature some inspired collaborations with this many talented folks involved. It's Athens, Georgia, y'all.
Special thanks to Margaret Kramer for hooking up our chat. Holding on for bother Wayne to pop out of a session to speak with me was a total geek out moment.
These shows have sold out. Thanks to everyone who supported our local Vets.
You know I'll bring back some photos!- Pauly
