Longtime Kermit the Frog voice actor and puppeteer Steve Whitmire recently relinquished the iconic role after nearly 30 years. Some reports suggest he was fired by new Henson property owners Disney. Walt Disney Company now controls the Muppets through the wholly owned subsidiary, The Muppets Studio.
Matt Vogel, who voiced and performed Kermit’s doppelganger Constantine in 2014's “Muppets Most Wanted,” has taken the role. Vogel is the third actor to perform Kermit since the character originated with creator Jim Henson in 1955. Whitmire took over for Henson following his death in 1990.
